Rules for participating in the CyberMates program

1. General information

The aim of the Kaspersky Lab CyberMates international student ambassador program (hereafter ‘Program’) is to form an international community of students and teachers who are passionate about cybersecurity and ready to spread their knowledge and skills in this field as well as promote international cooperation in the fight against cybercrime.

1.1. Principle aims of CyberMates activity:

  • Develop, organize and conduct information and educational events on information security for schoolchildren, students, teachers and other representatives from the sphere of education and science.
  • Promote relations with student associations.
  • In the capacity of a cybersecurity expert, address university media, thematic groups on social networks, etc.

2. Participant requirements

The following individuals are invited to participate in the Program:

  • Students from second- or third-year undergraduate courses and students in their first year of postgraduate studies, preferably in the field of IT;
  • Teachers from accredited secondary and higher education institutions specializing in IT.

Minimal requirements:

  • An interest in information security and analyzing malware.
  • A basic knowledge of network protocols and Windows internal architecture.
  • Experience of searching for vulnerabilities in information systems, monitoring/analyzing security, penetration testing and writing applications in C/C ++ is desirable.
  • The intention as well as the ability to devote at least one hour a week to volunteer work (see section 1.1) for at least two years after entering the Program.

To confirm these skills, you need to pass a cybersecurity test after profile verification on the CyberMates website.

To participate in the Program, you need to fill out a detailed questionnaire on the website cybermates.kaspersky.com.

Below is a list of activities and the number of bonus and reputation points that can be earned, as well as a detailed reporting procedure. All supporting files and photos must be uploaded to the participant’s task on the CyberMates website.

Bonus points can be spent on souvenirs at the online store available via the participant’s personal account.

An activity plan must be agreed upon and approved with a project manager from Kaspersky Academy prior to implementation.
